How do I upload a torrent?

Please read this tutorial, it contains everything you need! And don’t forget to read the rules before uploading any torrent!

It looks like I can’t leech anymore, and a nasty warning in the header confirms it. What’s going on?

You either have been cheating or leeching too much without giving anything back! With “cheating” we refer to the practice of boosting your ratio without actually seeding. You know, we always try not to be restrictive, but you shouldn’t cheat; it’s bad, and we don’t like bad things!
On the other side, regarding ratios smaller than 1, we are aware that we haven’t a lot of users so sometimes there’s just nothing to seed, thus if you are in this situation just tell us through the Help section and we’ll see what we can do.

Can I upload torrents from other trackers?

No, it’s not possible to upload torrents from other public/private trackers, sorry. vgmTorrents is a private tracker and needs to keep track of the amount of shared data and ratio, so all torrents must reside on our server.

How can I edit my torrents?

Editing feature hasn’t been implemented yet. If you’ve made a mistake in a title or description, you can either delete and upload your torrent again, or just drop us a mail. As soon as the feature is implemented, you’ll find it in torrent details pages.

I get a “Failure: unregistered torrent pass” error in my client. What’s going on?

The torrent you are downloading does not contain a valid passkey in the announce URL. You’ve probably left in your client a torrent you created on your own for vgmTorrents, and so the announce URL it contains is “clean”, or maybe you manually edited the announce URL, thus making the passkey invalid (why the hell did you do that?). In any case, just download the file again from the website — it will contain an updated and valid passkey and your torrent will be up and running with no problems.

I get a “Failure: unregistered torrent” error in my client. What’s wrong?

This mostly happens when the torrent you’re trying to download or seed has been deleted or uploaded recently. Just give the tracker some minutes and try restarting the torrent. If it still doesn’t work, try a search in the Browse section.

How do I get an avatar? I can’t find any form to upload my pic!

Please register on gravatar.com with the same mail address you used to register here, and your gravatar will appear in the site header (when you’re logged in) and in the forums — not to mention any WordPress blog around and all those websites that use gravatars.

Update: You can now upload an avatar directly on vgmTorrents through your User CP. If you haven’t uploaded a custom avatar, the website and forums will use the gravatar associated to your email address.

How do I setup RSS feed on my favourite BitTorrent client?
